Patrick Watson - Into Giants

I think it’s fair to say that most of Patrick Watson's music has a melancholic feeling to it. But on his latest single Into Giants, Watson sounds more upbeat and optimistic than I have heard on any of his previous releases.

April 17th is the date when the new album Adventures in Your Own Backyard is scheduled to be released. The album art is pictured above and fits the idea of turning ‘into giants.’ Maybe this will be a new direction in the music of Watson?

Enjoy.

Damien Jurado - Museum of Flight

Damien Jurado is a Seattle songwriter who is due to release his 10th album later this month. Admittedly, I hadn’t heard of him until I came across Museum of Flight. His voice reminds me of Active Child crossed with Scott Matthews and Eddie Vedder.

The song really speaks for itself. I think his voice is the real standout - disarming, sincere and full of sentiment.

Scott Matthews - Bad Apple

His voice has been described as a cross between Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley. I’m not going to make any claims here, other than the fact that I think that Scott Matthews’ music is worthy for you Chillers.

The track is off the Englishman’s new album What The Night Delivers, but to be honest, I haven’t heard any mention of Matthews’ music in the Australian media since his stunning 2006 major debut album Passing Stranger. I think Matthews’ new music is just as good and deserves recognition one way or another.

Spread the love.
