RJD2 - Since ‘76
I might just be speculating here - but I’m a little bit confident that RJD2 has taken samba and South American music on this track and chopped them up to make Since ‘76.
The track was a single on RJD2’s second album Since We Last Spoke and it has definitely retained playback value for me after all these years. Hopefully it will do the same for you. Enjoy.

Adele - Skyfall (Dorsh Remix)
I saw the new 007 movie recently on my Birthday, and despite losing/someone stealing my pair of sunnies in the cinema, I still enjoyed the movie immensely.
After the intense opening chase scene of Skyfall, Adele’s opening track soothes the viewer like a painkiller and the listener is immersed into a film-noir montage of grissly allusions to death amidst a sumptuous soulful number from the British songstress.
While I enjoyed the original, I’d have to say that Dorsh’s remix resonates with me much more. The Jamaican DJ has kept true to the original ballad, but he expands on the sentiment, with summery synths, transforming Skyfall into a much more positive sounding track.

Massive Attack - Teardrop (Cybass Remix)
Massive Attack’s Teardrop gets the remix treatment from Brazil’s Cybass. The remix basically reworks the minimalism of the original adding modern breakbeat and dubstep sensibilities.
The original song was released in 1998 and has gone on to become a classic. It ranked #22 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 of All Time chart in 2009.
The DJ from Rio De Janeiro has allowed his remix to be downloaded for free from his Soundcloud page.
Enjoy.

Little Joy - The Next time Around
The other week a friend put me on to Little Joy and I have been loving their music all summer.
The group consists of Rodrigo Amarante, Binki Shapiro and The Strokes’ drummer Fabrizio Moretti. The band have an undeniable talent for making music together. A recommended listen for sunny days at the beach or by the pool.
Since their debut album in 2008 there has been not much correspondence or information regarding any new material. Let’s hope it doesn’t stay that way for long.

El Sueño De La Casa Propia - Pobre Ave
About 2 weeks back I realised I have an extremely limited collection of music from South America. Since then I’ve been on the hunt for some good chilled music to feature from a beautiful, often overlooked continent on the global scale.
El Sueño De La Casa Propia or The Dream of Hope Ownership is the moniker of Chilean Jose Manuel Cerda. After a turbulent past, Jose found his calling making electronic music (for a time he was a drug dealer and street vendor). In Pobre Ave you’ll find samples and slick production that create a glitchy dream-like soundscape.
Thanks to Indieshuffle for the find. I can almost feel the tropical weather in this song, or maybe its because it was sunny on my side of the world today, hmm….
Happy Sunday everyone.
